LIFE OF SAN EXEQUIEL MORENO

APRIL 9, 1848 
     Exequiel was born to Felix Moreno and Josefa maria Diaz in Alfaro, La Rioja, Spain.
APRIL 10, 1858
     He was baptized at the parish of Alfaro.
SEPTEMBER of 1860
     Took over his brother Eustaquio's post as altar boy in the Dominican sister's conventual convent.
SEPTEMBER 22, 1865
     Professed the religious vows in the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
OCTOBER 14, 1869
     With seventeen other Recollects, He boarded the trans-oceanic frigate Concepcion at Cadiz, Spain.
FEBRUARY 10, 1870
     Arrived in Manila after strenuous four-month maritime voyage. Proceeded to San Nicolas church in Intramuros, Manila. Finished his last year of Theological Formation in Intramuros.
JUNE 3, 1870
     Received the tonsure, minor orders, subdiaconate and diaconate at Jaro Cathedral, Iloilo City.
JUNE 2, 1871
     Manila Archbishop Meliton Martines ordained Exequiel Moreno to the Priesthood.
JUNE 6, 1871
     Celebrated his first Solemn Mass at Calapan, Mindoro, Exequiel studied Tagalog and worked as assistant parish priest.
FEBRUARY 23, 1872
     Led the missionary expedition to Puerto Princesa, Palawan with port calls in Bulalacao, Mindoro and Cuyo, Calamianes Islands.
MARCH 4, 1872
     Arrived in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
AUGUST - DECEMBER of 1872
     Laid the foundation of Inagawan and Aborlan towns in southeastern Palawan. He contracted malaria in Inagawan.
JANUARY 10, 1873
     Journeyed back to Manila.
FEBRUARY of 1873
     Underwent Hydro-Therapeutic treatment under Fr. Fernando Cuenca, OAR in Talisay, Negros Occidental.
MARCH of 1873
     Served as assistant parish priest of Calapan and later as Curate of Calapan. Worked as Vicar Provincial and Vicar Forane of Mindoro Island.
OCTOBER 14, 1879
     Curate of Las Pinas parish.
JULY 28, 1879
     Parish Priest of Santo Tomas, Batangas.
OCTOBER 30, 1880
     Appointed official preacher of San Nicolas Church, Intramuros. He held post until September of 1882. 
FEBRUARY 24, 1881
     Served as curate of Sta. Cruz Church, Manila.
SEPTEMBER 19,  1882
     Became the administrator and prior of San Juan de Imus Estate House, Cavite.
SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER of 1882 
     Assisted the Recollect Curates of Imus and Bacoor during devastating Cholera outbreak.
APRIL 27, 1885
     Elected as Prior of Monteguado, Navarre, Spain.
DECEMBER 17, 1889
     Worked as missionary in Colombia.
MAY 1, 1894
     Consecrated as first Apostolic Vicar of Casanare, Colombia.
DECEMBER 2, 1895
     Promoted to the Diocese of Pasto, Colombia.
JUNE 10, 1896
     Served as Bishop of the Diocese of Pasto, Colombia.
AUGUST of 1905
     Diagnosis showed early signs of cancer of the palate.
DECEMBER 18, 1905
     Bade goodbye to his clergy and flock of Pasto and left for Spain for medication.
FEBRUARY 14, 1906
     First surgical operation in Madrid, Spain.
MARCH 29, 1906
     Second surgical operation.
MAY 31, 1906
     Proceeded to the Novitiate House in Monteguado, Navarre, Spain to spend his last days beside the image of the Virgen del Camino Out Lady of the Way.
AUGUST 19, 1906
     Died of cancer of the palate which also affected his nose and throat.

1910
     Beatification process began.
NOVEMBER 1, 1975
     Pope Paul VI beatified Exequiel Moreno at St. Peter's Square in Rome during the Holy Year of 1975.
OCTOBER 11, 1992
     Pope John Paul II canonized San Exequiel Moreno in Domingo, Domican Republic.

Miracles leading to his beatification and canonization were cases of immediate and total cures of cancer, for which reason he is invoked by the Order of Augustian Recollects and by Mother Church as special advocate of PATRON OF CANCER PATIENTS. Today, enumerable cures, especially of cancer are attributed to SAN EXEQUIEL MORENO powerful intercession.
